It was a beautiful day to work outside ...

The crew begins by carving out the space for the Reflection Garden.

Before the rocks go down the dirt has to be smoothed out.

Then the volunteer gardeners lay down garden fabric to prevent weeds from popping up between the rocks and then the rocks are put in place.

A good old fashioned Pergola raising!

Gardening requires energy ... half way through the day the crew had to refuel with the wonderful meal put together by Beacon House Program Director Nancy Davilio. She makes a mean macaroni salad and is affectionately known as the "Grill Master".
While the Pergola Raising was happening in the back of the house other Volunteer Gardeners were cleaning up the garden beds around the house.
Three Volunteer Gardeners admire their planting skills.
Nancy is high up on the rocky hill taming the weeds with her garden rake.

What is that growing in the gutters?

One brave Volunteer Gardener is willing to tame the weeds in the gutters!
As always Volunteer Gardeners practice safe ladder climbing.
Moving dirt to get it to the right spot.
A Volunteer Gardener puts the finishing touches on the Reflection Garden.
Volunteer Gardeners give the Reflection Garden a test run.
Give them a round of applause!
