PLAINVILLE GROUP HOME PROVIDES
PGH provides care for ten girls. All of which attend public school with supplementary tutoring provided by PGH in conjunction with the local school system. Residents earn privileges depending on age and behavior. Residents participate in school activities and clubs. Each resident completes a weekly chore and receives a small allowance. WHERE ARE PAST RESIDENTS NOW?Former residents include legal assistants, nurses, waitresses, bank tellers, retail sales people, bank branch managers, cooks, food managers, child-care providers, auto mechanics, ambulance attendants, cashiers and real estate agents. During the past twenty-five years, many hundreds of teens have been served by PGH, and have entered virtually every career. Many of our residents have attended college, including Briarwood, Albertus Magnus, Yale, UConn, Boston U., and SCSU, Tunxis and Teikyo Post. Not all former residents have pursued this path, but most are doing well, and are happy, productive citizens of our community. Plainville Group Home has been successful in impacting the lives of many young woman. However, it is not possible without the assistance of our many volunteers and contributors. It is this collective effort between PGH Staff, Board of Managers, volunteers and contributors which make the saying “It takes a whole village to raise a child” certainly true with the children and youth that PGH must provide for.
